Resending and Canceling Invites

Sometimes an invite gets ignored, lost in spam, or just goes stale. Here's how to nudge it back to life -- or call it off entirely.

Not every invite gets accepted right away. Maybe the email landed in spam, maybe the person was on vacation, maybe they just forgot. Whatever the reason, you have two options: "Resend" or "Cancel".

Finding the invite on the team page

Head to your team page and scroll to the "Pending Invites" section. Each pending invite shows the email address, who sent it, and when. If it's expiring soon -- or has already expired -- you'll see a tag next to the email.

Open vs expired

An invite has two statuses worth knowing about:

  • "Open" -- still waiting to be accepted. The person can click their original invite link any time.
  • "Expired" -- the invite link no longer works. They'll need a brand new one to join.

You'll see "Expires in X days" on invites that are getting close to expiring, and "Expired" on ones that have already lapsed.

How to resend an invite

Here's how you do it:

  1. Find the invite in the "Pending Invites" section. Click the "Resend" button next to it.
  2. A confirmation window will pop up. If the invite is open, the same link will be emailed again. If it's expired, a fresh invite will be created and sent instead -- the old link won't work anymore.
  3. Click "Resend invite".

If you don't see a Resend button next to an open invite, that just means it was sent very recently. Give it a little time and try again.

How to cancel an invite

If you've changed your mind, or the wrong email got invited, you can cancel it anytime. Here are the steps:

  1. Find the invite in the "Pending Invites" section. Click "Cancel".
  2. Confirm by clicking "Cancel invite". (If you click "Keep invite" instead, nothing changes.)

The invite link won't work after you cancel, even if they had it bookmarked. If you want to invite that person again later, just send them a fresh invite.

What about expired invites cluttering up the list?

If an invite has expired and you're not planning to bring that person on after all, click "Cancel". That removes the expired warning from the team page and tidies up your list. If you do still want them on the team, click "Resend" to get them a fresh invite.
