Removing a Team Member

When a teammate leaves your practice -- or just doesn't need Quill anymore -- here's how to remove them and what happens next.

People come and go. Therapists move on, associates leave, practices restructure. When that happens, you'll want to remove that person from your team at Quill.

Who can remove a team member

The Team Administrator (shown in Quill as "Admin") can remove anyone except themselves. A Manager can remove regular Members, but can't remove another Manager or the Team Administrator.

From the team page, here are the steps:

  1. In the "Team Members" section, find the person you want to remove. Click the "Update" dropdown next to their name.
  2. Click "Remove {Name} from Team". A confirmation window will pop up letting you know they'll lose access immediately.
  3. Click "Remove from team" to confirm.

That's it. They'll be removed from the team list right away. The team's monthly subscription will adjust to reflect one fewer billed member.

What happens to their account?

Their Quill account still exists -- removing them from your team doesn't delete their account. They simply lose access to anything tied to your team. If they want to keep using Quill on their own, they can sign up for an individual plan.

If a removed teammate later joins another team at Quill, or starts their own subscription, none of that affects the original team or its billing.

Removing a Manager

Removing someone who's currently a Manager is something only the Team Administrator can do. There are two options:

It just depends on the goal.

Made a mistake?

If you accidentally removed someone, you can always invite them back. The previous invites and history will still be there in the team activity log, but their access starts fresh once they accept the new invite.
