Quill has zero investors.
Zero.
Jen thought of the idea, and Jon built it. And we launched it. And then therapists liked it and paid for it.
And we've grown from there -- from dozens of therapists in that first month to thousands of therapists today, over two years later.
And we've grown in features and functionality too -- from just progress notes in those earliest of days to today's treatment plans, custom documentation templates, worksheets, and beyond.
We "bootstrapped" (as they say) the whole thing.
And we will continue to operate this way. We get to make decisions that we feel good about, regardless of how they might impact revenue projections. We don't have to worry about paying back investors, or lose sleep at night if they decide to suddenly pull funding, force a sale, etc. Because it's us, Jen and Jon.
And the thousands of therapists who use Quill each day -- paying for it, yes, but also giving us feedback and guiding us on how we can be even better. And making us feel good about the direction we're heading.
Ethics and privacy and security and doing what's right for both the client and the therapist can be front-and-center, guiding everything we do. This is why we also will never record or transcribe therapy sessions like so many AI scribes and "ambient listeners" out there. The therapists who use Quill don't want that -- and we don't want that either! No investors can pressure us to discard our concerns and pursue what might be a more lucrative path.
So anyway, thanks to the therapists out there who support us!
And to the investors that keep cold emailing us:
No thanks. Hard pass. We're good. We'll stick with the therapists on this one.
