Once your template is ready, using it feels just like using Quill for any other kind of documentation.
You record or type a short summary, and Quill generates documentation using the structure you created.
Getting to the template's generation page
There are two ways to get there:
- Go to the Custom Templates page and click "Generate Documentation w/ Template" next to the template you want to use.
- Click the chooser bar at the top of the page -- your templates show up under "Custom Documentation Templates" (and your favorite ones show up directly).
Either way brings you to a generation page that looks just like the note generation page, with your template's structure ready to go.
Providing your summary
This is exactly the Quill workflow you already know. Click "Audio" to record your summary out loud, "Text" to type it up, or "Worksheet" to fill in a worksheet you've built for this template (if you've got one). You can mix and match -- a worksheet for the predictable details, a short audio recording for what's unique.
The template you selected will be displayed at the top, with any documentation details you've added showing up to guide you. If you've got a Sticky Note configured for this template, it'll show up too -- handy for remembering what to include in your summary.
Pasting existing documentation (optional)
If you're working from existing documentation -- maybe a previous version of this document from your EHR, or notes from another system -- you can paste it in before generating. Quill will use your template's structure to reorganize and improve it.
If you're starting from scratch, just leave that part blank.
Generating and copying into your EHR
Click "Generate Documentation", and Quill will build out a complete document using your template. Everything will be in the structure you set up, and any extra instructions you added will be followed automatically.
Once it's generated, copy and paste it into your EHR. Quill doesn't store the final document -- your EHR is the system of record.
Editing the template mid-flow
Here's a small but real time-saver: if you realize something needs to be updated in your template while you're generating the documentation, you can click "Edit Template", make your changes, and just regenerate.
No need to re-record your summary or start over. Your summary stays put -- just hit generate again, and Quill will use your updated template.
