Choosing the Correct Audio Input Device for Recording

When you're recording your summary to generate notes at Quill, it's important to have the correct input device selected! Otherwise, you'll be talking... and those important details won't be accurately recorded. Here's a new feature to help with that.

We've noticed that web browsers don't always have a great "default" audio input device when folks go to record their summaries at Quill. And so people click "record", and whoops, turns out a random device was selected by the browser and your recording didn't get fully captured!

So today, we released a new minor feature. Prominently displayed while recording your summary are two new elements:

  • The device that's currently being used for recording.
  • An option to change which device you actually want to use.

For example, if you think, hey, why are my Airpods selected? They're laying on my desk, and I wanted to use my laptop's microphone instead! then... click "Change Input Device" and choose your laptop's built-in microphone!

Here's what it looks like:

Again, this is a minor update, but it's a quality of life update. It's frustrating to record for a couple of minutes, only to realize that your browser assumed you wanted to use your headphones, which were laying across the room.

Keep these sorts of ideas and suggestions coming!
