Compassion-Focused Therapy

A therapy that aims to help people develop self-compassion.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) was developed by Paul Gilbert to help individuals who experience high levels of shame and self-criticism. CFT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with concepts from evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and Buddhism. It encourages the development of self-compassion and compassion for others, helping individuals to respond to their own suffering with kindness and understanding.
