This presentation provides participants with trauma-informed skills for recognizing, assessing, and responding to intimate partner violence. Participants will examine the foundations of IPV including coercive control, myths, types of abuse, clinical red flags, and the cycle of violence through interactive activities, case scenarios, and guided reflection. The training highlights how trauma responses show up in counseling sessions and offer practical strategies for supporting clients who may be experiencing abuse. A strong emphasis is placed on survivor-centered safety planning, trauma-responsive communication, and therapeutic stabilization. Attendees will also learn how to coordinate warm handoffs and referrals to The Haven to strengthen continuity of care and collaborative safety. By the end of the session, participants will leave with deeper awareness of IPV dynamics, enhanced clinical confidence, and immediately applicable tools for supporting survivors in any counseling setting.
